All Asus’ U-Series power supplies are 80 PLUS certified in accordance to the EPA’s Energy Star 4.0 standard for computers.

Taipei, Taiwan, July 28, 2008 – In order to cater to users who require a stable and energy conserving power supply, ASUS, world-leading producer of top-notch power apparatus, has unveiled the new ASUS U-75HA power supply. The U-75HA delivers an outstandingly durable lifespan of 200000 hours – double that of normal power supplies; and is also equipped with four +12V rails and four PCI-E 6+2 pin connectors to provide support for high end graphic cards. The U-75HA is part of ASUS’ U-Series of power supplies – incorporating Active PFC for improved voltage stability and environmentally friendly power delivery. What’s more, all of ASUS’ U-Series power supplies are 80 PLUS certified in accordance to the EPA’s Energy Star 4.0 standard for computers.

With the use of quality components and top of the line engineering, the ASUS U-75HA power supply delivers a MTBF (Mean Time Before Failure) lifespan of 200000 hours – double that of most power supplies – allowing users to utilize the U-75HA with ease of mind.

80 PLUS Certification for Great Energy Efficiency
All of the ASUS U-Series power supplies (inclusive of the U-75HA) are fully 80 PLUS certified and offer users up to 86% power efficiency. The 80 PLUS standard is aligned to the power-supply requirements in the EPA´s Energy Star 4.0 standard for computers.

Enhanced Stability to Deliver Steady Power
Equipped with accurate power ratings to deliver their full rated power, the ASUS U-75HA is Intel ATX 12V Version 2.3 compliant, and incorporates four real 12V rails (12V1,12V2,12V3,12V4) to provide stable support for high-end graphic cards. It is also equipped with four PCI-E 6+2 pin connectors which support both 6-pin and 8-pin graphic cards (most 750W PSUs only provide two 6+2-pin PCI-Express connectors). It is also outfitted with dedicated power circuitry which delivers more reliable output to delicate components. All of the models in the U-Series range also incorporate Active PFC for improved voltage stability and delivers environmentally friendly power with a high power factor (PF) of up to 99%.

Exceptional Ventilation for Cooler Temperatures and Stability
The U-75HA is equipped with several innovative features to enhance ventilation for lower temperatures and better stability. These include hexagon venting holes for efficient heat dissipation and cable sleeves for improved internal airflow within the system. The U-75HA also features a 13.5cm large ball bearing fan with fan speed control function for quiet and effective cooling by venting hot air away from the power supply.

Great Expandability and Safety
The ASUS U-75HA also offers great expandability options by providing 6 SATA, 6 peripheral, 2 FDD, 4 PCI-E 2.0 and 1 EPS connectors – allowing users to place more components into their systems. Additionally, the U-Series’ support for PCI-Express 2.0 connectors are ideal for multi-GPU graphic cards. The ASUS U-75HA is also certified with CUS, Nemko, CE, BSMI, TUV, FCC, C-TICK standards, and offer OVP, SCP, OCP, NLO, OTP, UVP, OPP protection - safeguarding components from overvoltage.

Hitachi has received an order for lithium-ion battery systems from General Motors Corporation (GM). Hitachi’s lithium-ion battery systems will be installed annually in more than 100,000 hybrid-electric vehicles (HEV), which is scheduled to launch in North America market in 2010. The order reflects GM’s recognition of the solid quality of Hitachi lithium-ion batteries, Hitachi’s proven record in a broad spectrum of lithium-ion battery technologies, including performance, cost, safety, durability and endurance, and its track record of having supplied the market with more than 200,000 cells since 2000. The lithium-ion batteries will be supplied by Hitachi Vehicle Energy, Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd.

Owing to stricter environmental regulations and rising concern about fuel economy worldwide, Hitachi expects the global market for HEVs to continue expanding from the 410,000 unit level recorded in 2006 to 1.5 million units in 2010. Against this backdrop, Hitachi estimates that demand for HEV lithium-ion batteries will overtake that for the current mainstream nickel metal hydride batteries in 2015.
