North is up (the 12 o’clock position) in this seam-corrected 360 degree polar projection using images from sols, or Martian says, 1 and 3. Seam boundaries show different times of day.

Mars, a cold desert planet with no liquid water on its surface, has water ice that lurks just below ground level in its arctic region. Discoveries made by the Mars Odyssey Orbiter in 2002 show large amounts of subsurface water ice in the northern arctic plain. Phoenix will use its robotic arm to dig through the protective top soil layer to the water ice below and ultimately, to bring both soil and water ice to the lander platform for sophisticated scientific analysis.

Well recently I’ve been bloging a hell of a lot of images, which I personally think is OK, I quite like them. So I’ve decided that each day im going to have a image of the day, seems pretty reasonable I think. Well to kick things off on day 1, the image of the day (obviously the above pic) is a picture which is taken by NASA. I think its a wonderful image and I am really interested in ‘Space Exploration’ if you like.

If you want the full size image click on the image above, the other images I submit will not be affected by the ‘Pic Of The Day’ but the best each day will be highlighted if you will. Anyway cheeryo untill I blog or submit another story probably in an hour or two (if I can be bothered).
