Tokyo, Japan, Fujitsu Limited today announced the new MHW2 BH series of hard disk drives for mobile PCs, its first 2.5″ HDD offerings to incorporate advanced perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) technology for enhanced storage capacity. Two new models, the 160GB MHW2160BH (which boasts the industry’s highest storage capacity for a 5,400 rpm HDD), and the 80GB MHW2080BH, will go on sale worldwide from October 2006. In addition to achieving 160GB of storage capacity through PMR technology, the new MHW2 BH series also features the industry’s highest level of shock resistance and energy efficiency. Moreover, new HDDs are the RoHS compliant. In addition to the MHW2 BH series, Fujitsu will simultaneously introduce the MHW2 AT series aimed at the consumer electronics market.

Primarily intended for AV and information appliances, markets that are expected to expand rapidly, this series features low-power consumption and a best-in-class acoustic noise level of 1.5 bels when idle. The series incorporate traditional longitudinal recording technology.

The Bluedot portable DVD player BDP-2700K features a (480×234) pixels 7″ LCD display. In addition to a card slot that supports SD memory cards, MMC, and Memory Stick, it furnishes one USB port for connecting USB memory, and supports the playback of video, image, and audio contents stored on recorded media. Supported file types include MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 SP (Simple Profile), DivX (3.11 ~ 5.2.1), XviD, JPEG, and MP3. Bluedot DVD player BDP-2700K offers one composite, one s-video, and one component output connector for displaying videos on the even larger screens of external devices. It also has one AV output connector, two headphone output connectors.

Power is supplied by the included AC adapter, a car battery adapter, or the device’s battery. Continuous playback time is about 3 hours with the LCD on and 5 hours with the LCD off. The player measure 190×147×32mm weighs approximately 720g (no battery) and is available for approximately 28,000 Yen. The player comes with a remote control, AC adapter, ear phones and video cords etc.
